The Minnesota Wild returned home Tuesday night to take on the San Jose Sharks after playing six of their last seven games on the road, a stretch in which they went 1-6 and lost five-consecutive games at one point. The return home was exactly what the team needed as they knocked off the Sharks 3-2 and ended their losing streak.
Wednesday morning, the team returned to the ice for practice and Head Coach Bruce Boudreau provided some updates regarding Ryan White and Christian Folin and talked about the positives of playing at the Xcel Energy Center.
Home Sweet Home
The Wild are sure glad to be home.
After hardly seeing home ice to begin the month of March they will now play five of their last six games in March at home. Boudreau says that is a welcomed change.
"It's different. It seems like we've been everywhere else but [home]," Boudreau said after practice Wednesday morning. "To wake up in your own bed and get to practice at the same time is different, but it's a good different.
"Whether we win or lose, we love to be at home," Boudreau continued. "We love playing in front of these fabulous fans. They're so loud and encouraging so it's really good."
Updates On Folin and White
Boudreau provided updates on defenseman Christian Folin and Center Ryan White who have both missed time with the team.
White missed Tuesday night's game as well as Wednesday morning's practice as he is battling the flu. No timetable was given as to when White would return though if it is just the flu keeping the Wild center off the ice then he should be expected back at some point this weekend.
Ironically enough, that is right around the time that Boudreau said he is expecting Folin to return.
"He's getting closer," Boudreau said speaking about Folin's potential return. "I would expect him to be able to play this weekend at some point."
Folin has been out the last few weeks since suffering an upper-body injury.
