Report: Danielle Hunter to undergo season ending neck surgery

Minnesota Vikings Training Camp

The Vikings just traded away their best healthy pass rusher and it sounds like it has no connection to a Danielle Hunter return. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Thursday morning that Hunter is undergoing season ending neck surgery.

After a disappointing loss against a then winless Falcons, it seems as if the Vikings are in a sell now mode. Ngakoue was traded away to Baltimore for a third-round pick this year and a conditional fifth-round pick in 2022.

Not having Hunter along the defensive line has hurt the Vikings pass rush through the first six games. The hope of having two elite pass rushers next season is now gone, with the departure of Ngakoue.

There have been plenty of areas of concern along the Vikings roster and it seems as if Rick Spielman is loading up on future draft picks. If this is the case, it’s fair to expect more Vikings veterans to be on the trade block.
