Despite a little hiccup earlier this month, Michael Floyd's time with the Minnesota appears as if it will continue on. After testing positive for alcohol in early June, Floyd was due in Arizona court Monday afternoon to meet the judge after failing two alcohol tests and missing another while on house arrest. It appeared as if he was on his way to impending doom, until over the weekend when a letter leaked out from the Minnesota Vikings which supported his claim that the failed test was a result of consuming Kombucha tea. I'm not entirely sure what part convinced him, but rather than drop the hammer, the Arizona judge sentenced Floyd to only one day in prison and five days house arrest, both of which will be served in Arizona.
Following the release of the sentence, the Vikings released the following statement from General Manager Rick Spielman...
When we signed Michael Floyd, we hoped he would show signs of improvement and we continue to expect that he shows progress and a professional attitude. We believe Michael will be a productive member of the Vikings organization, both on and off the field. Pursuant to the ruling of the Arizona Court earlier today, Michael will serve the remainder of his sentence and we expect him to be with the team at the start of training camp in Mankato when the players report on July 26.
So there you have it. We all thought the worst was about to come but Michael Floyd will be done with his sentence come the 4th of July after a little slumber party in jail.
