Twins Sweep 'Stros as Morneau and Arcia Homer

The Twins completed a three-game sweep of the Astros at Target Field over the weekend -- their first series sweep since June 18-20 against the White Sox.

Granted, the Astros (36-74) do currently own the worst record in baseball and have for much of the season (second-worst are the White Sox at 40-69). The Astros rank 29th in the league in team batting average and 30th in ERA.

But the Twins made good on that, regardless, outscoring Houston 13-9 in the series.

Justin Morneau and Oswaldo Arcia -- in his third game since being recalled from Triple-A Rochester on August 1 -- both homered on Sunday to propel the Twins to a 3-2 victory.

Since being recalled, Arcia is 5-for-12 with a homer and two RBIs, raising his batting average in the majors this season to .266.

Morneau's homer was his third in the last eight days and his 10th of the season. He's 7-for-17 at the plate through four games in August.

The Twins bullpen combined to allow just one run in 17 innings of work in the series.

Twins Injury Update
Josh Willingham is scheduled to start his rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester on Monday in Raleigh, N.C. It's expected that he'll start at designated hitter and then work his way up to playing a full game in the outfield by the time the four-game series in over. The current plan is that Willingham will rejoin the Twins in time for Friday's game in Chicago.

The Twins No. 1 ranked prospect by MLB.com, Byron Buxton, returned to the lineup in Fort Myers on Sunday after missing six games with a toe injury. He went 0-for-2 with three walks and a stolen base in his return.

Prospect Miguel Sano has missed three-straight games in Double-A New Britain with a right hamstring injury. The original timetable for Sano's return was three to four days.

In the second game of his rehab stint with Class A Advanced Fort Myers, Darin Mastroianni went 3-for-5 at the plate with a pair of doubles and three runs scored.

Up Next
The Twins start a three-game series in Kansas City on Monday before heading to Chicago on Friday for a four-game set against the White Sox.
