Minneapolis, MN - You may have heard the news that has been floating around Thursday morning in regards to linebacker Jasper Brinkley's visit with the Buffalo Bills. The visit was supposedly Brinkley's first meeting with a team since the Cardinals released him late last week. What you likely have not heard yet, is that today's Buffalo meeting is in fact Brinkley's SECOND meeting with a team since his unconditional release.

Sources close to the situation have confirmed that Brinkley was in fact in Minnesota meeting with the Vikings earlier this week likely discussing what could very well be considered a vacant middle linebacker position.

Brinkley started 15 games at middle linebacker for the Vikings in 2012 where he compiled 62 tackles and forced 3 fumbles for the purple. Spending last year in Arizona largely as a backup, the 28 year old Brinkley believes that he still has some gas left in the tank and should heavily consider Minnesota as a potential landing spot.

The middle linebacker position for the Vikings is up in the air for the 2014 season after last year's starter Erin Henderson was benched and then released by the team following two separate DUI arrests late in the 2013 season. With Henderson's departure, the Vikings have only the injury riddled second-year player Mike Mauti and last year's stop-gap Audie Cole on roster to fight for the position. While Brinkley is not necessarily thought to be a top-line MLB, he can likely be had on the cheap and his experience alone will challenge Cole and Mauti for the starting role.
