Mankato, MN - Monday morning, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer noted that a team can never have too many defensive backs on roster. "It seems like those guys are always getting nicked a little bit." In line with his statement, Monday afternoon the Vikings announced the signing of veteran safety Chris Crocker.

Crocker, a twelve-year veteran, is very familiar with Mike Zimmer and his defensive style having played under coach in Atlanta (2007) and for six years with the Cincinnati Bengals. He'll add depth to a depleted secondary that is expecting to miss Robert Blanton (hamstring) for an extended amount of time and has yet to lean on Andrew Sendejo (back).

Crocker will be thrown into the competition opposite Harrison Smith for a safety spot with Jamarca Sanford, Antone Exum, Kurt Coleman and Mistral Raymond.
