Minneapolis, MN - With the 139th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Vikings got big on their outside pass defense with CB Robert Blanton from Notre Dame.
Standing 6'1" tall, Blanton set career highs with 70 tackles and eight tackles for loss in 2011 for the Fighting Irish. A four-year starter at Notre Dame, Blanton made a name for himself as a shutdown corner against big time opponents on Notre Dame's schedule.
Blanton is know to excel at both man-to-man and zone coverage and is thought to fit perfectly into the Vikings Cover-2 defensive sets.
At the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine Blanton ran a 4.70 second 40-yard dash, benched 225ls 12 times, and posted a 34" vertical leap.
