MICHAEL BROCKERS this, Michael Brokers that! Good Lord, after spending three hours at Winter Park today, if I hear another FB person utter the name "Michael Brockers" again I might call for his Hall of Fame induction tomorrow at the BWW Friday Football Feast in Champlin.
One coach said: "You need four hands on him every play."
A offensive player said: "He's super fast; very nice player."
Another insider offered: "Real deal. Wrecks games."
Okay, I get it, the 14th overall pick in the draft is on an influential run and is very tough to defend. He had a high ankle sprain in the preseason, missed three games, took a miniute to find stride and now supposedly is better than A TACKLE NAMED SUH. He's one of several new players for the Rams' defense that is changing the culture down there.
With all of the Brockers' steam I attained today, does that mean we are best suited to run THE BEAST wide instead of up the middle? That's what I am expecting Sunday from St. Louis. Brockers seriously seems that tough but it's not like all middle runs are eliminated.
Instead, after learning today via film the Rams blitz a ton and use it as their run-stopping defense, sounds like sucking them into blitzes and running around them could put Adrian on a 200-yard game. With Our Kid I no longer enter games wondering if he'll have 100, I expect him to pass the century mark, average around 150 RYPG the rest of the way and forever will be a broken tackle or three from 200 plus running yards every game.
These Rams will send extra guys in sneaky fashion all game, and the most important facet CHRISTIAN PONDER can bring Sunday is with pre-snap reads to get players squared away. He'll need to nail the quick-hit stuff when he passes, then our guys need to make a guy miss. Too bad PERCY is out of the mix because this would be a huge game for him.
Good for the artists previously known as the Ratty Rams. Elite HC JEFF FISHER has established a culture of toughness, and the team has a true defensive identity. It also has two rookies in Brockers and CB JANORIS JENKINS around which they can build, and they both play defense.
And good luck to their covert, aggressive blitz schemes -- send more than four at the wrong time and Our Kid is gone and will have more than 200 yards. And we will win!
