We celebrate the 1983 Wayzata Club Hockey Team and one of its stars, Jonny "The Mouse" Mikkelson, who once told me "Our team was so good the varsity wouldn't play us." When asked why he didn't play varsity Mouse said, "Too little." Cutest ever. So, we salute the greatest Club Hockey Team ever, a squad so vaunted even Jim Craig's Miracle team wanted nothing to do with it. Trottier, Bossy, Gretzky, Messier ... dead! Long live the 1983 Wayzata Club Hockey team!

f the Wild were Judge Charles H. Older, the judge that sent Charles Manson to the clink: “2 weeks in the workhouse and 1 month probation!”
PAUL CHARCHIAN and I, your beloved Friday Football Feast tandem, became quite giddy while laying out the destination schedule for our football-season shows. We both predict the Vikings go 11-and-5 and I think they go 7-and-0 at MOA Field and shut down that sucker with positive vibes. I, too, believe we win all our division games except maybe at Lambeau.
Memories are there to be made. The Mission: Meadowlands! We just need to get to the wire of the Sports Abyss with aplomb because things locally have slowed down on the old Winnersville front.
Since the Wild was bumped by The Champs, the Twins have entered garbage mode, and all of this talk about replacing GARDY makes me uncomfortable because I am a fan.
Time to sell some hope and touch up this sucker with some Purple and Gold paint. Here are some non-PONDER-related questions I have into the first FFF two weeks from today in 'FANkato:
-- The punt-return game. Is it MARCUS SHEREL'S money? Our CBs will be COOK, RHODES, ROBINSON, JEFFERSON and probably Sherels. The CFL All Star RODERICK WILLIAMS might push Marcus for the money, but that Sherels is a safe option at PR helps his cause. I do not envision CORDARRELLE PATTERSON returning punts and don't really see a guy on the roster as good at it as Sherels. FA JACOB LACEY is in the mix at CB, too, but he'll be all out to make the team.
-- The offensive line. The question here is a tad of a stretch because the Minnesota Moving Company is the best in the division and I already think MATT KALIL is the best LT in the NFL (so skilled/fast/mean). The middle has some questions, though, because the anchor JOHN SULLIVAN is off surgery and the guards need to play better than last year. PHIL is fine at RT, and TE RHETT ELLISON also helps with his selfless game.
Rookie G TRAVIS BOND (seventh round, UNC) might push FUSCO for the RG job during training camp, and I heard wonderful things at the 'Heel during Mini Camp. Kind of a longshot Bond wins the job but he does have a chance.
-- BLAIR WALSH. Can he be as good as last year? He nailed so many FGs at 50 yards or more and had multiple walk-off winners he made the Pro Bowl as a rookie. This is not a question spot because Walsh is very anal about his craft and will find a way to make himself better. He will push for the league lead in touchbacks if we score enough and will walk off a winner a few times, too. Kid has terrific work ethic. Rookie P JEFF LOCKE is the holder, and that could change things a bit with KLUWE gone. That's worth a look during preseason games.
Expect mega coverage 9-to-Noon previewing Vikings TC and here on the show page. It's what we do.
