We celebrate the 1983 Wayzata Club Hockey Team and one of its stars, Jonny "The Mouse" Mikkelson, who once told me "Our team was so good the varsity wouldn't play us." When asked why he didn't play varsity Mouse said, "Too little." Cutest ever. So, we salute the greatest Club Hockey Team ever, a squad so vaunted even Jim Craig's Miracle team wanted nothing to do with it. Trottier, Bossy, Gretzky, Messier ... dead! Long live the 1983 Wayzata Club Hockey team!

f the Wild were Judge Charles H. Older, the judge that sent Charles Manson to the clink: “2 weeks in the workhouse and 1 month probation!”
Ahh, the goofiness of the State Fair, which begins for all of us tomorrow in Falcon Heights. The traffic. Rube Nation. Mouth Guitar Guy. Clomps. Screaming kids. Hot women. Pictures. The food. Cool.
I love doing shows out there because these are the people who take time to (a) come to say "Hello" and (b) listen to our mix and buy the products we endorse. It's not as easy for a structured guy like me to execute shows and I become way too tangental at times, but the conversations are unique and fun.
You know with #92Noon Vikings talk will be huge every single day I am there. These are tenuous times within our covenant for some because next week 15 get cut, and a few days later we go from 75 to 53. For some, NFL dreams are about to be smashed. For those who will be with us during the 2013 campaign they want to look better at San Francisco and put some impressive offense/performances on tape.
The first offense has done minimal the first two preseason games, and to fix that ADRIAN suits up Sunday night. They have to be excited to see with the threat of MVP back there if the passing game gains some consistency. They have to. They game-planned all week for the Niners, and the first half of this game very much will have a regular-season feel. It's fair to analyze the Vikings HARD off the first half of this game.
I still realize the plays will be vanilla and nothing for Detroit, Chicago or Cleveland to see that will yield a tell, but I still want to see sustained drives by the offense and continued tough-love play from the defense. Our first and some of the second defense have been pretty good this preseason.
I don't get over the top with the positives or negatives this time of the year but truth be told our first defense played extremely well at Buffalo, and our special teams outplayed theirs by a mile. The first and second offense, though .... not so much.
... THE NINERS: How about a little intel to get us ready?
-- SF had seven sacks last preseason game at KC. Our OL has had its problems. Good challenge.
-- SF's defense has not permitted an offensive TD all preseason. Our first offense has not score a TD this preseason. We haven't even been inside the 10.
-- LESLIE FRAZIER is 3-and-7 in preseason games.
-- Sunday-night's game is nationally televised, or a "Primetime" contest. SF was 5-and-1 in "Primetime" games last year.
-- One thing that definitely will change this regular season -- SF is minus five in the take-give this preseason. The Niners were plus 37 the last two seasons.
-- FRANK GORE has 51 rushing TDs, the most in SF lore.
-- ALDON SMITH has the most sacks (33 1/2) than any player ever through their first two seasons.
