We celebrate the 1983 Wayzata Club Hockey Team and one of its stars, Jonny "The Mouse" Mikkelson, who once told me "Our team was so good the varsity wouldn't play us." When asked why he didn't play varsity Mouse said, "Too little." Cutest ever. So, we salute the greatest Club Hockey Team ever, a squad so vaunted even Jim Craig's Miracle team wanted nothing to do with it. Trottier, Bossy, Gretzky, Messier ... dead! Long live the 1983 Wayzata Club Hockey team!

f the Wild were Judge Charles H. Older, the judge that sent Charles Manson to the clink: “2 weeks in the workhouse and 1 month probation!”
My final 53 in advance of 5 p.m. cuts today with some commentary at the bottom:
QB: PONDER, CASSELL (2)
RB: PETERSON, GERHART, ASIATA, LINE, ELLISON (5-7 total)
TE: RUDOLPH, CARLSON (2-9)
OL: KALIL, JOHNSON, SULLIVAN, FUSCO, LOADHOLT, BERGER, BACA, KEITH, BOND (9-18)
WR: JENNINGS, PATTERSON, SIMPSON, WRIGHT, BURTON, WEBB (6-24)
DL: ALLEN, GUION, WILLIAMS, ROBISON, GRIFFEN, FLOYD, BAKER, EVANS, JOHNSON (9-33)
LB: GREENWAY, HENDERSON, BISHOP, MITCHELL, COLE, MAUTI, DEAN, HODGES (8-41)
DB: COOK, RHODES, ROBINSON, JEFFERSON, SHERELS, SMITH, SANFORD, SENDEJO, BLANTON (9-50)
SPECIALISTS: LOEFFLER, WALSH, LOCKE (3-53)
Potential changes/thoughts: They could keep DT ANTHONY MCLEOD over CHASE BAKER but I see the undrafted FSU guy as more of a practice squad guy. They need five DTs given Williams and Floyd enter the season off injuries.
Assuming they keep JOE WEBB there's no reason to roster a third QB, so MBT may be PS-bound. I, however, feel he will be scooped up by another team shortly after cuts, and maybe a team like the Niners would be interested given their backup QB situation is diseased.
JEROME FELTON is suspended the first three games and does not count against the final 53.
The Bears cut J'MARCUS WEBB, an OT who started a ton of games. I'd consider signing him and cutting Keith, who started games for the Arizona Cardinals.
There are reports ANTOINE WINFIELD will be cut by Seattle, and I believe them to be true. Yeah, I'd move on Antoine, cut Blanton and move Robinson back to an exclusive outside CB spot. Josh has had his struggles tackling this preseason from the inside position and is better suited to play outside.
I may be too heavy at the LB spot with eight for a 4-3 team but cannot see them cutting Hodges, a rookie fourth-round pick, despite the PSU kid not doing much this preseason. Mike Mauti absolutely stays in my estimation and will start at MBL in the NFL ine day.
I had BOBBY FELDER making the team before his injury in the Titans game. They could keep him and cut Blanton, but Robert was good last year on ST.
MATT ASIATA absolutely stays because he's very good on ST. That, too, goes for LARRY DEAN. TYRONE MCKENZIE led the team in ST tackles last year, and much of that was predicated on the work Dean did in drawing attention. If they keep McKenzie AUDIE COLE might be cut, and I'd be fine with that.
The two best stories from the preseaon are Mauti and ZACH LINE. Mauti was a seventh-round pick off three ACLs and has terrific instincts. He mashed on a Titan on Sherels' 109-yard KR TD. Line is undrafted from SMU and was a wonderful find by SPIELMAN. I predict he starts in front of Adrian at Detroit a week from tomorrow.
I wouldn't keep six WRs for a run-first team but feel the team will. If they cut Burton they could add at the DL position because I know I am light with just eight.
Assembling this bit is tough, and we'll have the answers later today. Then we play at Detroit a week from Sunday -- Mission: Meadowlands. #Faith.
