UPDATE: Friday morning the Minnesota Timberwolves made the signing of guard Josh Howard official.

"We're pleased to add a proven veteran in Josh Howard to our team," said David Kahn, Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations. "Josh has been a productive player in our league for nine years and will add to our depth at the wing position."

Free agent guard Josh Howard and the Minnesota Timberwolves have come to an agreement on a one year contract at the veteran minimum. The deal is dependent upon Howard passing a physical. To make room for Howard, the team has reported waived guard Will Conroy, who had logged 20 minutes with the team so far this season, scoring only one point.

Howard, a 2003 first round draft pick of the Dallas Mavericks has averaged 14.5ppg throughout his career. He last played for Utah last season. In 43 games with the Jazz, Howard averaged 8.7 points on nearly 40% from the field and 3.7 rebounds in only 23 minutes per game.

In case you're wondering what Howard's been up to recently, here's a recent video of him working out:

If the physical goes well, Howard should be in uniform for Friday's game against Golden State.
