Minneapolis, MN - If you are one of those Timberwolves fans that is cheery and happy for what the future of Timberwolves basketball might hold, don't read this article!
In a tell-all article titled "Kevin Love unsure about Timberwolves' future" which was posted to Yahoo! Sports earlier Tuesday afternoon, Kevin Love dished out some dirt toward the Timberwolves front office surrounding his contract negotiations, his thoughts on the team, and his future with the organization.
The 2,000+ word article highlights a laundry list of missteps made by the Timberwolves that have left Love questioning his future involvement with GM David Kahn and owner Glen Taylor.
Love's mentioned frustrations include contract negotiations that took place on a trainer's table after a loss when David Kahn burst into the room shoving a contract offer into Love's lap hoping for him to sign it. "I'm not the one to always follow professional protocol – but I do know what it is, even at 24 years old," Love says.
Love went on to express his worry at the direction that the team is headed and expresses the lack of trust he has in Kahn and Taylor.
"You walk into the locker room every year, and it's completely turned over," Love says. "There's new guys everywhere. And then it happens again and again. You start to wonder: Is there really a plan here? Is there really any kind of a … plan?"
"Look at different teams around the league," he says. "Look at a San Antonio that continues to add talent around [Tim] Duncan and [Manu] Ginobili and [Tony] Parker. Look at what happens in Oklahoma City, the players they continue to add around their star players. Even the trade they had where they lost [James] Harden, they still added players that were going to fit well in their system. And speaking of small markets, look at a team like Memphis and all they've been able to accomplish. They're getting the most out of their entire organization."
As it stands, Love is obviously the consumate professional and will continue to play his hardest during the extent of his time in Minnesota, however long that may be. He did express his desire to win a championship in Minnesota but the distaste that runs so bitterly through his vein towards management cannot be overlooked.
