According to an NBC Sports report, former Minnesota Twins pitcher Francisco Liriano may have cost himself big bucks because of a prank that he was attempting to play on his kids.

The Pittsburgh Pirates tore up a two-year, $12.75 million deal and it was replaced with one that only guarantees him $1 million. Originally Liriano and the Pirates claimed that the 29-year old pitcher broke his arm during the off season after falling awkwardly in the bathroom. When the Pirates reported for Spring Training Monday afternoon, he was telling a different story.

According to the tweets of those covering the team in Florida, Monday Liriano claimed that he "broke his arm when he slammed it against a door, trying to startle his kids Christmas Day."

Liriano will reportedly require four more weeks of rehab before taking the mound again.
