Minneapolis, MN - For the second consecutive season, Adrian Peterson has undergone off season surgery. In a statement released late Thursday morning, the Minnesota Vikings announced that All-Pro running back and the reigning MVP of the league, Adrian Peterson, underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia today.
The procedure, which was performed by Dr. William Meyers, in Philadelphia, PA, was able to successfully repair Adrian’s abdominal core muscle injury (sports hernia).
"We expect a speedy recovery with no long-term concerns," the statement from the team read.
Typical recovery from surgery for sports hernias is in the ballpark of 4-6 weeks which would put Peterson on schedule to take part in most (if not all) of the team's off season programs.
